Malkin tower Blacko

Malkin came about after Stuart of the Dalesmen had to leave due to health problems. The Dalesmen consisted of Frank Barnes, Ian Andrews and Stuart McGhie and formed in 1976. They had played for thirty years at various types of venues including appearences on BBC’s Countryfile.
Ian and Frank asked Alex if he would like to join the Dalesmen and they were back to being a trio. Both Ian and Alex are not only fine musicians but quite accomplished harmony singers. Alex has played in many bands and with Dave for many years in the very popular Lancashire band Flash company. They decided to ask Dave to join because they needed a melody player to replace Stuart. Dave had just had a very busy 2008 playing with Lancashire folk legend Brian Preston sharing stage with such as Show of Hands and Spires and Boden but Dave wanted to be back in a four piece band where he can wander off playing counter melodies and experimenting with instrumental harmonies. Dave sings some songs on his own or accompanied by the band.
